Aggresiel (アグレシエル) or Agg (アグ) is a mysterious new character in Mass for the Dead and leader of the Mercenary Knights.

Appearance[]

Aggresiel appears to be a young tan girl, shark-like teeth and blue sapphire eyes, with long platinum hair that reaches past her waist and two small natural wing-like appendages protruding out the side of her skull. She appears to resemble a knight, wearing a metal visor atop her head, a white blouse with a dark red vest, dark black arm sleeves, and two dark red belts with gold buckled. Her footwear seems disproportionate to her small body as they are massive armored boots with steering handles.[1]

Personality[]

Aggresiel is described, when she is happy to have sparkling eyes and gets a ragged breath when excited. She appears to have a sisterly bond with her associates, who affectionately refer her using chan (ちゃん) as a form of endearment. Aggresiel also appears to be very optimistic of the future and her sisters plans, having no doubts that things can go wrong.

The girl appears to be very confident and sometime gets carried away in her excitement. Fundamentally she is a carefree girl who smiles. According to herself she is not a very outspoken person but values a dialogue. She claims to also have good tuition which is normally reliable.

Aggresiel appears to have great admiration for the guild of Ainz Ooal Gown and their associates, as they were the people her creator idolized in YGGDRASIL.

Despite her childish behavior Aggresiel is actually perceptive and intelligent when it comes to people, indicating she has a lot of experience. And can be serious, when the situation calls for it.

The only times she actually loses her composure is regarding anything or anyone affiliated with the Slane Theocracy. Due to the persecution she and her sisters experienced the leader of the Mercenary Knights despises the Theocracy.

Background[]

Aggresiel was "born" in the space inside the Crack, which is called the Sea of Possibilities. Her birth was the result of the desires of a certain guild player, who never followed through in creating her in YGGDRASIL, which reacted to the Sea of Possibilities.

Therefore, unlike the NPCs of Nazarick, she has no memories of her creator, but from the contents of documents from her second sister, she learned about YGGDRASIL, the creator, the other sisters they designed and the guild her creator admired. Originally Aggressiel was designed as a knight, but so far has yet to find a master to serve.

In current times, she lives with five other girls who she considers as her sisters: Billiophia, a twin pig-tailed girl,Di, Ella and a lethargic girl that is seen sleeping on a pile of some unknown objects. Which together they make up the group called the Mercenary Knights.

Though later it is revealed that she is a creation of someone from YGGDRASIL who was a long-time admirer of the guild Ainz Ooal Gown who recorded their mighty deeds in a series of documents. At one point she and her sisters came in possession of the documents, about the heteromorphic guild. These tales greatly made an impression on the Mercenary Knights, but more so on Aggresiel.

According to her claim, she and her sisters operate "inside the Crack", traveling to various worlds, taking on different roles and identities, where they are Mercenary Knights, in another workers, etc. On occasion the sisters have mined for Remnant, a wish granting mineral native to the Womb Corridor or Cracks. Aggresiel was said to have some negative experience with using Remnant, having once wished for a shield that can withstand any attack, which she received, but was nearly crushed to death.

The current world which her sisters are in is one where there is a minimal presence of the Chaos Beasts, at least compared to the New World. In this world, Aggresiel and her sisters ran afoul with the Theocracy, especially with a version of Nigun Grid Luin. Their interaction did not end positively as Aggresiel was called a "devil impersonating an angel," by the human supremacists despite being to the contrary. This left her feeling holding a grudge towards the Theocracy and anyone affiliated with them.

Mass for the Dead Arc[]

Main article: Mass for the Dead Arc

A month after the defeat of Enhela, Aggresiel returned to the domicile and shared with her sisters with some exciting good news. The news was guessed by one of her sisters, that being the death of Enhela.

Her sisters took the news in satisfaction as the uncertain threat was now gone. Aggresiel then put up the proposal in asking her sisters their permission to contact the great guild, which the idea was unanimously agreed to by most.

Once she got her sisters approval, Aggresiel planned to get started right away, commenting it's all for the sake of a good conversation. That being said, since Aggresiel was accompanied by Billiophia to make arrangements.[2]

Aggresiel and Billiophia made their way to the Baharuth Empire, finding themselves in Arwintar. Though they lacked money and were getting hungry and attempted to find work. They managed to meet with the merchant Osk, and pleaded to for him to hire them as fighters at the Grand Arena, claiming themselves to be bounty hunters. Although the merchant was doubtful of them, his aide, Headhunter Rabbit convinced him otherwise.

Aggresiel and her sister were set to fight on the last day of Go Gin's comeback training matches. They were to have a friendly match against two members from Silver Thread Bird: Freivalds and Fan Long. Aggresiel and her sister were regarded as newcomers, but they surprised the crowd with their physical strength and skill and won the match. Although there were a few complaints from those in the crowd, who were hoping that the adamantite adventurers would lose, which the Aggresiel found rude as it was a good match. This allowed Fan Long to strike a conversation to explain about the behind the scene bets and credited her as being strong.

When Freivalds praise her and Billiophia for being stronger than expected, Aggresiel proved her awareness of Freivalds and his team's reputation of being the slayers of the Radiant Crawler and the best adventurers in the Empire. After the end of the match, she and Billiophia went to Osk to receive their payment and shortly left the arena.

Their next destination turned out to be the Singing Apple Pavilion where they ate with some workers. At the end of the meal, they headed to the lodging facility prepared by the Empire for the representatives of the Sorcerer Kingdom. Their approach was noticed by the Shadow Demons lurking about. However, Aggresiel and Billiophia shocked the demons, when they addressed them directly, displaying that the women could perceive them despite their abilities of stealth. Aggresiel and her sister demanded an audience with Prime Minister Albedo. The Shadow Demons seeing that the pair were unfazed, got clarification from their mistress on how to proceed, permitted the women to pass into the room where the Overseer Guardian and the protagonist were waiting.

At their introductions, Aggresiel expressed how grateful she was for the members of the Sorcerer Kingdom were sparing her some time and introduced herself and her sisters as being members of the Mercenary Knights. The name of the group, only elicits a response of confusion from Albedo as she was not aware of such an organization in the Empire.

Aggresiel hearing this commented out loud that this may explain why that she and her sister were unable to find work, before Billiophia urged her to focus on the conversation at hand. The girl then apologized and explains that she and Billiophia were currently working at the Grand Arena for pay, which the Sorcerer Kingdom delegation had no doubt witnessed.

Upon hearing Albedo's name, Aggresiel became greatly exhilarated with the Prime Minister, lauding her elegance and dignity, before Billiophia reminded her to focus. Though the knight could not help herself as she was in the presence of one of the people who they admired for so many years.

When Billiophia commented that Albedo was studying Aggresiel's armor her younger sister told her that she should have removed though. Though Aggresiel claimed she cannot remove them just as Billiophia could not remove her nails. She apologized to Albedo telling her that the equipment was just as much as a part of her and it was not her intention to bring a weapon to their meeting.

In response to Albedo asking if this was a way to evoke interest from her, Aggresiel commented that the Prime Minister possessed your keen insight. And that she was a fitting person for the protagonist to serve. This brought surprise from Albedo that the girl knows of the protagonist, to which Aggresiel explains she has been watching her for a while now and was impressed by her leadership on the ground.

Billiophia commented to Aggresiel that the other party must think that they were spies, and told her older sister to stop acting suspicious, which the leader of the Mercenary Knight apologizes again, assuring the other party that she truly just wanted to talk.

The Sorcerer Kingdom party then asked questions on their identities and how they could be part of some organization that does not exist. Having expected these questions and the Sorcerer Kingdom's incredible intelligence network, Aggresiel clarified that the Mercenary Knights were not fictional. In fact they were beings who traveled to various world and took on different identities.

After Albedo realized that Aggresiel and Billiophia were being like the protagonist, that they came from "inside the Crack." Though the knight clarified that they actually called it the Corridor. Aggresiel hearing from Albedo's words, she proud that she was convinced. Furthermore, she noted that it appeared the protagonist shared the same ancestry as them and was happy to be able to interact with a kindred spirit.

This still caused Albedo and the protagonist to still wonder that they had been spying on the Sorcerer Kingdom of a prolonged time. Aggresiel and Billiophia stated that it was not the case, stating that they took notice due to the commotion that followed involving the realm, after a priest named Enhela from the Slane Theocracy got deeply involved. Aggresiel confirmed that from his "presence," the priest was also a kindred but was using some evil power.

At the mention of the mad priest, the protagonist was worried that Aggresiel and her people were in contact with him. Aggresiel denied this as the people of the Theocracy, which proclaims human supremacy, were incompatible with her sisters. In fact she was very much offended by the priest and was glad he had been eradicated.

Having said her piece, Aggresiel asked if Albedo and the protagonist still had doubts about her and Billiophia. Still the members of the Sorcerer Kingdom had questions of what world they came from. Aggresiel provides she and her sisters came from a world where they have adventured all over, but now find themselves in a world where there is a minimal threat from the endless monsters that appear from the Cracks.

The monster that Aggresiel mentioned are the Chaos Beasts...however, even in such a world, it is slowly heading towards destruction. Hence the reason for Aggresiel coming to the protagonist and Albedo as she and her sisters were hoping that they could share their wisdom from the people of the Sorcerer Kingdom, who are guiding the humans of the current world in a positive direction...and lend their strength.

Of course, the knight was not talking about doing something right away and first would like to build a friendly relationship first. To show her sincerity she gave them a toothy smile, though Billiophia informed her it was having the opposite effect. Aggresiel believed her was being a bit too stiff, reminding her that they were in the presence of the people who may be the members of the guild they admired and read about for years.

In response to Albedo and the protagonist's questioning looks about the word "guild", the girl elaborated that her sisters possess documents that recorded the great deeds of a certain guild. And while in the Chaos Zone, Aggresiel claimed she spotted the protagonist and members of the Sorcerer Kingdom. Despite the lack of proof, from that moment Aggresiel believed that the group were from the legendary guild, however the girl's intuition told her so.

Albedo still needed more proof to confirm what Aggresiel said, and asked her to tell her more about this guild she believed the Sorcerer Kingdom was associated with. At that Aggresiel to provide Albedo the information, which involved reciting a series a series of facts about the guild, such as managing to defeat a punitive force of 1,500 people, was a guild made up of only heteromorphic species like her sisters, fought off against righteous hunters of other races, had a World Champion and World Disaster within their ranks, and was called Ainz Ooal Gown and was led by a guildmaster named Momonga. All these words were from her creator, who was a long-time admirer of the famous guild of Ainz Ooal Gown.

The stunned reaction from Albedo and the protagonist pleased Aggresiel who sensed that they were beginning to believe her words. The girl still assured Albedo that she meant not to make her uneasy. She was aware that Albedo's organization. now called themselves the Sorcerer Kingdom to hide their identities, but she and her sisters understood and were aware about keeping things discrete with this kind of information. Aggresiel expressed how long she wanted to meet her creator's idols who she also idolized.[3]

The members of the Mercenary Knights apparently left afterwards, and Albedo and the protagonist passed their message to Momonga and the rest of Nazarick.[4] In the meeting Aggresiel conveyed that she and her sisters were of another world. And that they wished for cooperation with the Sorcerer Kingdom. At the same time she left Albedo and the protagonist a warning, saying things in the Womb Corridor or the Crack were a little unsettling and turbulent. Unfortunately, she doesn't know exactly what will happen, but she thinks that people from the Sorcerer Kingdom may still have a chance to enter, so she would like to ask for their caution. That said she told them to be careful, as the situation in the Womb Corridor was probably because of some reckless priest from the Theocracy.

Sometime later a second meeting was schedule. The protagonist along with Shall and Doppel-Slimeko met Aggresiel and Billiophia in Arwintar at the Singing Apple Pavilion. There Aggresiel welcomed the representatives of the Sorcerer Kingdom, while enjoying a dish of pork stew that the inn served. Given that the shop had a lot of eyes watching, Aggresiel agreed with her sister Billiophia to change locations. The two guided the contact team to where they were staying. On the way to the place, Aggresiel and Billiophia demonstrated how well they knew the merchants in the Cnetral Market, by engaging with them in their banter. To explain why they were so familiar with the locals, Aggresiel explained that it was part of their mission in gathering information from a new world through ordinary people.

Once the group arrived at the room, Aggresiel complained it being too plain to entertain guests, and wondered if she and her sister should have taken the offer from Osk to board in one of his rooms he provided. Although Billiophia told her that they should not rely on Osk too much. The girl agreed that their main purpose was to keep a low profile. Talks then began between the two groups. Aggresiel took an interest on Shall. And based on her looks guessed that the other girl was some sort of princess, citing she and her had something in common, as Aggresiel admitted that she was a princess knight and thought they should be friends.

Aggresiel wasn't wrong though was surprised that Shall revealed herself as Shalltear Bloodfallen, a Floor Guardian of the Great Tomb of Nazarick. But Aggresiel and her sister were more shocked by the implications of Shalltear's words, that Nazarick still existed. Billiophia was the first to react with such enthusiasm, which Aggresiel for a change had to apologize for her passion to their guests. The sisters were understandable of why the Sorcerer Kingdom would be discreet on such information, Aggresiel believed that their meeting was fate.

In the continuing dialogue, Aggresiel expressed a desire of wanting to see Nazarick for herself. But saw that the Sorcerer Kingdom still did not trust them, explaining Shalltear's presence in the meeting, as a deterrent if there was any hint of hostility. During the talk, Shalltear asked the sisters if they had any information on her creator Peroroncino. While the name was not familiar, Aggresiel stated that there was a mention of a sniper in Helheim from the book Billiophia had received from their creator. Aggresiel and Billiophia were then questioned about any information they had on YGGDRASIL, such as World Items, though the information was only brief and not concrete. However when the protagonist mentioned information on a specific World Item, one that can exert mental control over an opponent who is immune to mental effects, Aggresiel inferred that she and Billiophia might know something but would reserve that for later negotiations.

Aggresiel and Billiophia would receive more shocking information from the contact team who informed him that a member of Ainz Ooal Gown, Momonga, was alive. The news thrilled them that one of their creator's idols was active. By then suspicion between the two groups had lessen and they were enjoying teatime together, drinking chocolate drinks. In their casual conversation, Aggresiel looked forward to a start of a cooperative relationship. The contact team then as a show of trust revealed Lupusregina Beta and CZ2128 Delta who were working undercover as workers in the Empire under the identities of Regi and Shizuni.

Aggresiel recognizes CZ, as being one of the people who were abducted inside the Womb Corridor. The leader of the Mercenary Knights admitted to seeing her while she traveled the Womb Corridor and was aware of the rescue operations by the humans. And that she wanted to assist but was advised against such action by Billiophia as the knights wanted to avoid the attention of Enhela.

When Aggresiel is asked by the if the sisters left the human abductees in the Womb Corridor because there was low danger to them by the Chaos Beasts, Aggresiel believed it was fine for now, though admitted that the Womb Corridor was getting unstable. She was relieved to hear that all of Nazarick's associates were rescued.

While talking to Lupusregina and CZ who were to be their contact with the Sorcerer Kingdom, Aggresiel was surprised to hear that their boss was Zero, as she and Billiophia were aware of him, or at least another version of him in another world. Aggresiel and Billiophia then explained the nature of the Cracks/Womb Corridors and that they were roads to other worlds that were similar but not quite. Once the two parties understood that they were dealing with the concept of parallel worlds, the protagonist then disclosed about the threat of the Mimics that emerged from the Cracks.

From what Aggresiel and Billiophia knew from their observation of the Womb Corridors, they had a theory that the Mimics were a result of the Calamity of Cracks and that the constant travel use of the Cracks caused the anomalies to overload and produce copies of the abductees. And while she didn't think that simply rescuing the real one would stop the spawning of the Mimics, she suspected that they were being born somewhere within the Womb Corridor.

When the protagonist shared that there were rumors of a strange group in the Katze Plains with suspicions that they were Mimcs, Aggresiel wondered these suspected Mimics returned to the Crack or dispersed elsewhere. The two groups had a bad feeling that E-Rantel would be targeted by these monsters and so together decided to head there and investigate.

Just as the group were heading out of the city, they were caught up by Headhunter Rabbit who was looking for Aggresiel and Billiophia, requesting them to fill in at the Grand Arena after some fighters chickened out of a match with a Skeletal Dragon. Unfortunately Aggresiel and Billiophia could not do it as they were on a special task, so Regi and Shizuni volunteered to take the job.

Aggresiel and the joined teams then journeyed to E-Rantel. A detour was made to the Tob Forest, where Aggresiel voiced her disappointment in being unable to see Lupusregina and CZ in action at the arena. Still she decided to take the opportunity to enjoy the sight of the natural forest. She and Billiophia found the ruins of Carne Village, where she lamented on the destruction, but believed it was inevitable given how close it was to a Crack. The protagonist offered the sisters to meet the survivors of the village in E-Rantel, though the knight dismissed the offer as there was no need to indulge in her and Billiophia's sentimentality. To her, letting people know about the upcoming potential new crisis that could pose a new threat to the world, and dispelling people's doubts too priority.[5]

Aggresiel and her sister were shown around E-Rantel, introduced as rivals that Shall made on her travels. All was well until Aggresiel saw Nigun Grid Luin, who they knew of, having met an alternate version of him in another world. Due to Aggresiel holding a grudge, Billiophia was the one to restrain her sister's temper and from doing anything foolish. Luckily the sisters tensions towards Nigun were passed of being quirks of their personality.

Later after meeting with Guildmaster Pluton Ainzach, they were introduced as being people not related to the Sorcerer Kingdom, and present to help with the threat of the Mimics. During the tour of the city, the sisters encountered both Saint Clementine and Nemu Emmot, showing some familiarity to the two humans. And later they were present when a mass of Mimics resembling powerful warriors of the Quadripartite Alliance tried to break through the undead security blockade around one of the Cracks in the streets.

Aggresiel and Billiophia then accompanied the protagonist, Shall and Soi into the Crack or Womb Corridor under the pretense of testing the new Chaos Adaptive Equipment and locating where the Mimics originated. The sisters then revealed that the source of the Mimics was actually from a wish-making mineral called Remnant that could be mined from debris coming from an entity they referred to as "Mother", the Devourer of the Nine Worlds.

At the end of the day the representatives of the Mercenary Knights and agents of Nazarick sat down in a secured mansion to hash out a possible cooperative relationship. Aggresiel proposal was to form an alliance against the threat of "Mother". An while it may have seemed that the sisters were intentionally hiding their relationship with the World Enemy it was actually a test to see Nazarick's reaction. The existence of Remnant partly played a role in convincing the protagonist and the Sorcerer King to reconsider a hostile stance, especially if they could secure mining rights of the mineral from the Knights own dimension. For now the two groups agreed that they would trust each other for the time being.[6]

Momonga mentioned her when he considered about possible players existing in the other world which she and her sisters inhabited. He was confident there were versions of the Boastful Sage and other similar beings there. Though he would need to confirm with her next time.[7]

Abilities and Powers[]

Aggresiel apparently has some sort of sensory ability that enabled her to sense the life force of a person. For example, she was able to notice that Enhela's presence vanished, which allowed her to deduce he was dead.

Aggresiel's true power is unknown, but she is shown to be physically strong enough to defeat an adamantite adventurer.

Main Equipment[]

  • Leg Armor: Aggresiel's main equipment which are a pair of metal armored legs, that are used as bludgeoning weapons in combat. According to the wearer, they cannot be removed and are as much her feet to her.
  • Broadsword: Aggresiel appears to be equipped with a sword clipped behind her back.

Relationships[]

Enhela Read Gahi[]

Aggresiel apparently saw Enhela as an enemy and celebrated his death upon learning of his demise and even praised his killers. Though they originated from the same ancestry, being from the Sea of Possibilities, she detested his association to the Theocracy and it human supremacy. Furthermore she viewed his as a danger due to his meddling of the Cracks and possessing a dark power.

Di[]

From the dialogue with the other characters, Di appears to have a sisterhood bond with Aggresiel and the other girls in her team.

Billiophia[]

Billiophia is Aggresiel's younger sister and also second in command of the Mercenary Knights. Despite being older, Aggresiel keeps Billiophia's counsel close, as the bookworm girl keeps the energetic Aggresiel on track in her duties.

Osk[]

Osk is Aggresiel's current employer, working as a fighter in the Grand Arena. Initially Osk did not take her seriously, having no interest in her body-type as a warrior, but was proven wrong later on after Headhunter Rabbit told him otherwise and seeing her skills in a match.

Headhunter Rabbit[]

Heahunter Rabbit was the person who convinced Osk to hire Aggresiel and her sister Billiophia. This was due to unconsciously sensing that who dangerously strong they were.

Freivalds[]

Aggresiel fought Freivalds in the Grand Arena. Though they were opponents in a friendly match, he recognized him for his reputation. Likewise the adventurer did not take his loss too bad, unlike his other companions who berated and wanted to make friends with the girl, even trying to find Aggresiel and her sister to socialize.

Fan Long[]

Fan Long was the opponent of her sister Billiophia who she defeated. After the match they maintained a cordial conversation, with the beastman giving credit to the girl for being strong.

Albedo[]

Aggresiel has shown nothing but admiration to Albedo, an associate of the guild she has long admired. Though understanding the Overseer Guardian's suspicions about her, Aggresiel makes it clear she wants to be truthful and assure that she and her sisters are no danger to her or Nazarick.

Protagonist[]

Aggresiel sees that the homunculus was from the same ancestry as them. Though she appears to respect him given he is an associate of Ainz Ooal Gown.

Devourer of the Nine Worlds[]

The Devourer is regarded as "Mother" to Aggresiel and her sisters. Given that the World Enemy is the master of the place where they originate. Though Aggresiel and her kin harbor nothing but disgust for the Devourer and aims to see its destruction due to the danger it poses to other worlds. Aggresiel does not revere the World Enemy, despite it being her creator in a sense, in fact she originally believed it to be a mindless monster, and was genuinely surprised that it had the ability of speech when told by the protagonist.

Nigun Grid Luin[]

It's revealed that Aggresiel encountered an alternate version of Nigun in the world her sisters are currently residing in. Though her experience with Nigun was less than stellar, as she holds him in contempt for his treatment of non-humans. Her disgust extends to him and his country of affiliation, the Theocracy. Though the Nigun in the current world is considerate and even tolerate, Aggresiel finds it hard to reconcile her feelings of distaste of the former Nigun to the current one.

Trivia[]

  • At her introduction, Aggresiel's identity was unknown, but her silhouette is vaguely similar to the 4th Seat of the Black Scripture, Divine Chant, as they both have wing accessories on their heads.
  • Aggresiel is revealed to be a heteromorph, like her sisters, though what type is still unknown.
  • The reason why she refuses to remove her armored legs, is otherwise she would not be able to speak to other people at eye level.

Quotes[]

  • (To Freivalds and Fan Long): "Yes, everything is ready. Thank you, heroes."
  • (On the crowd in the Grand Arena): "Fufu, it was a very good game. However, I think it's a bit rude to decide the winner in a friendly match."
  • (To Feivalds): "Oh, what an honor. To be praised by Silver Thread Bird, the heroes who defeated the Radiant Crawler and the best adventurer team in the Empire."
  • (To the Sorcerer Kingdom delegation): "Greetings, people of the Sorcerer Kingdom. I am extremely grateful that you have spared me your time."
