When AOG becomes 1 of the major religions, how would it affect the WORLD?
Well, there's a lot that could wrong before it even becomes a religion. In our own world history there are have many occasions where political rulers have been established as divine: King Minos of Crete proclaimed to be a son of the Greek God Zeus, the Pharaohs of Egypt claimed to be possessed by the spirit of Amun Ra, almost every monarch in old Europe was crowned by a high ranking member of the Christian church. When the political laws match up with the religious laws internal conflict is minimized and things tend to click. While Ainz could take such a stance other problems begin to rise.
The first problem that comes up is a simple one, who's at fault when bad things happen. Bad things happen(natural disasters, plagues, murder and war) and when they do people tend to blame the highest power that could have stopped it(Remedios blames Ainz for so much in volumes 12 & 13). If Ainz is a god and the ruler, than many people will blame him for things outside of his control; yet if their are thing outside his control than how all powerful is he? The examples above had an easy way out, they didn't have the final say. They were son's of gods, possessed by them, chosen by them; they are not them. The actions or inaction the gods take is not their fault and all complaints should be directed to the deity and not the ruling class(Jircniv has started telling people to voice their complaints to Ainz, because Ainz has the final say). Ainz can't do that. The best he could maybe do is create an evil to stand in opposition of his wants (EX: I knew that your country would deny my aid, so I did not give it. You brought this tragedy upon yourself by being weak and worshiping false idols. I was not the one who called upon the storm that ravaged your villages and destroyed all your food, you see it was this other extremely powerful entity that hates you all and wants you to suffer; but worry not for soon I will do slay this vile fiend on your behalf and bring peace to this land, in the meantime how many undead farmers can I put you down for?)
The next major form of opposition Ainz faces comes in the form of proving that he is a god. While it may seem simple enough to point to his great power and feats and use that to prove his divinity; we have to remember that in a world full of magic, people could say that his power is just what happens when someone starts casting tier 10+ spells. Also we can say that those who have met lord Ainz or been effected by his power in some way would believe it, but how would we than convince the dozen and a half million people who never will. Ultimately there is only one way to definitively prove in this world that someone is a god. That is by asking the question,' Are the people who pray to him, able to cast faith based spells?' Nothing will go further than that in proving that Ainz is a god. Now asking that question also opens the can of worms that is whether or not the gods are real at all, or if the faith itself is what fuels the spells. At this point it is far to early to say whether the chicken or the egg came first; but if people start praying to Ainz and start casting spells without Ainz knowing, then we'll know.
So straight up I'll remind you of the slane theocracy where they literally built an entire religious society on worshipping players as gods so ains' power is more than enough to be worshipped.
Being blamed for natural disasters can only be in the case of the religion believing ains can prevent natural disasters, since ains doesn't do stuff like that it wouldn't really establish that as one of the things he does as a god.
The god of death in the slane theocracy is closest to ains in their power and abilities so it's very possible for ains to be worshipped as a death god and ruler over death, but then in pantheon form he could immortalise the other supreme beings in that pantheon. Touch me would work out really well in this setting given his penchant for justice, and ains could set up a false touch me to rally the good in people and promote their justice while they fear ains for his abilities over life and death.
What do you think?
