The Light Novel of book 1&2 had already been officially publish in English. Are we not gonna use official translation on this wiki? Many of the names of items, organisation, races, classes and spells need to be change. There are still so many errors that need correcting too. Are we just keep using our own translation for this wiki?
What do you mean by errors bro? For my part I find Yen Press's version to be lacking (like always) and prefer to use the terms we are already familiar with, just because it's official doesn't mean it's better.
This is a wiki. Of course you have to work with what the publisher and author give you(real facts). And they give you a official English version to work with. Just because you are use to it doesn't means is the correct translation. If the English version catches up all the way to v12 then you would have 2 groups of people saying different names. There is a reason why we first call the it fan fiction at sky, because every name was decided by the fans who translated it first. And there are some errors which were never corrected.
It's only natural to use the official names rather than fan-made ones. Anything else would just be silly, causing confusion and delay.
Blah blah blah, i find this Wiki page understandable and your point valid as well. Maybe you could start by stating all the difference and identifying what needs to be change.
"There is a reason why we first call the it fan fiction at sky, because every name was decided by the fans who translated it first..."
You seem to not have gotten it. The word "fan fiction" was a joke. It was used, after, yen press licenced the light novel, thus making all translations of the official work illegal. But, if one were to translate a mere fan fic of it, then it wouldn't be the case. They did the same, when Konosuba was licenced, and weren't allowed to translate the 'official' work.
It wasn't used to undermine their capabilities as translators.
Just because someone is paid by a publisher to translate a novel, doesn't make it more accurate.
As to the 2 groups you are refering to. It all comes down to, which group is bigger. If, lets say, the group, who uses the terms from the "fan fiction" makes 80% of all the fans, while the one that prefers the officialconsist of only 20%, then THAT would be silly to make the much larger group get used to all these new terms.
(different anon) i wanted to make sure i was doing this right how does one register an account on this specific wiki?
What do you think?
